Are you a Lloyds bank customer? Watch out for this ‘impressive’ scam that could catch you out
A customer said it was "frightening how impressive" the scam was as the bank confirms the letters are fake
LLOYDS Bank customers are being warned about fake letters which could trick them into handing over personal and financial details to scammers.
The letters have the Lloyds logo, a customer service address and are signed by a “representative” of the bank.
It tells recipients that there has been “unusual transactions” on their current account and asks them to telephone a number to confirm they are genuine.
When victims call the number they are taken through to an automated service where they are asked to enter their credit card or account number and sort code, as well as their date of birth.
They asked to enter the first and last digit of their security number and even their phone number.
The scam was spotted by and after investigating it has had the number blocked by the telephone provider.
