Girl goes to epic lengths to land a date with her Uber driver… but it doesn’t go quite to plan

It's is a modern fairytale story - with not quite a fairytale ending

LIKE something from a romantic comedy, this ladies story of how she tried to get a date with her Uber driver is an epic tale love and loss.

Shared on Twitter, @KelliAmirah's tale of trying to bag a date with her Uber driver is like a fairy tale - until it all goes wrong.

Taking to social media, Kelli Amirah shared her captivating story with thousands of people.

Kelli and her friends were on their way to a party and after getting a call from their Uber driver, Kelli just knew that he was going to be a hunky.

The love-stuck lady took to Twitter.

She wrote. "Y'all I just shot my shot at an Uber driver. It all started on Saturday night, when me and my friends got an Uber to this party.

"The driver called to let me know he was outside and I'm like bet, we're coming. Hung up. Made the observation that his voice was fine af."

Getting into the car, Kelli's foresight proved correct as their Uber driver was very handsome - and Kelli decided that she had to ask him out for a date.

She explained: "So there's minor small talk in the car, nothing major. And out destination is quickly approaching, but I'm not ready to shoot yet."

Texting her friend who was sat behind her, Kelli tried to decide what she could leave in the car so that she'd have an excuse to get in contact with him again.

Kelli revealed: "Meanwhile me and my friend in the car texting about the whole thing while she's in the front seat and I'm in the back. "

Kelli and her friends arrived at their destination, and in a spur-of-the-moment move, Kelli left her phone charger behind.

She explained: "So like we're pulling up to the spot and I don't know what to do. So then I spur of the moment accidentally on-purpose leave my charger behind.

"I'm like oops. Looks like i'll just have to contact the driver about my lost item.

"So I wait about half an hour or so before I go to the Uber app to contact my driver about my 'lost item'.

"So I'm calling, and the phone is ringing... and ringing... Y'all I;m at this party in a corner like...

"And then it goes to voicemail.  But I wasn't too hurt cuz it's also like 1am. I leave a message decide to try again tomorrow."

The next morning, Kelli attempted to contact the beautiful taxi driver again , but she was out of luck. She started to panic that she would never see her charger again as her battery life started to dwindle.

She said: "So like midday, around 2ish I call again.... and once again get sent to voicemail.

"So I leave another message but at this point I'm thinking how stupid this was. What if this man just keeps my charger? Why do you do this Kelli?

"It finally reaches like midnight on Sunday and I still have heard nothing back.

"I go to the Uber app and fill out the info on my lost item in the hopes that maybe Uber can get this guy to respond, because calling not working."

After leaving a request with Uber, Kelli got to work on Monday because she had her Economics final, and then the magic moment happened and he texted her back.

Kelli wrote: "So fast forward to Monday night, I'm pressed, tryna cram for my Econ final. Questioning my whole college existence at this point TBH.

"In the midst of my studying, I check my phone and see a new message from an unknown number."

Excited to have made contact, Kelli made plans for him to come over to her house the next day.

She tweeted: "I'm excited. I finally got a response. I'm gonna get my charger back. And now I can actually shoot my shot.

"So I let him know I'm free today in between my finals from 11-2. He's like send the address and I'll try to make it."

After a late night of studying, and then going to take her final at 8am, Kelli went back to her room to take a power nat. However, waking up at 11am she found the Uber driver had texted her.

She said: "Went and took my final at 8am and was back in my dorm by 9:15. Y'all I was tired. I set some alarms and knocked out.

"So after snoozing like three different alarms I wake back up at 11 something and check my phone."

The hunky Uber driver wanted to meet now.

She wrote: "Mind you, I look like death. Crust in my eyes, face bare. Wearing sweats and a hoodie. Looking hurt.

"I text him and ask if he can give me 20 min cuz I was in the middle of something. Really I needed time to get my life together and beat my face."

Within 20 minutes, Kelli had gotten ready and was about to face her fear and finally ask the guy out.

She explained: "So 20m in later I've achieved a light beat, look a little more pout together. I'm ready."

With the support of her friends, Kelli went to meet the driver when he arrived to go and pick up her charger and hopefully a date too.

She revealed: "I head outside, into this brick a** drizzle, and I;m like sicing myself up as I walk.

"So I get to the car and knock on the passenger side window and he rolls it down. My anxiety... through the roof.

"So I say hey and he's like 'oh hey wassup' and looks for my charger for 2 sec before handing it to me.

"Now I have a good a** look at his face and I'm like he too fine, I can't back down. So I'm thanking him for bringing it and he's like no problem.

"So I say 'excuse me if this is really forward, but would you like to go out sometime?'

"And then he chuckles and smiles and says 'text me'."

Kelli thought that was the end of the story - she had won the boy.

However an update three days later showed that everything was far from fine as Kelli's Uber driver was already married.

Kelli spoke to and said that she wishes that her driver had just been upfront with her, although she was proud of herself for going out of her comfort zone and asking a stranger out on a date.

That Uber driver turned out to be a dud, but there is one driver in LA who claims to be the best driver in the world as he sings Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas with his passengers.
