The winners of the Travel Photographer Of The Year have been revealed, with the final collection of images including captivating scenes of traditional fishing in Ghana, a bird’s eye view of Ethiopia's Danakil Depression and portraits of ageing villagers in the Daliang Mountains of Sichuan, China.
This year, photographers from 20 countries including Portugal, India, China, the USA and the UK won gongs.
The winner of the top award of ar was presented to Joel Santos from Lisbon, Portugal, whose pictures have appeared in magazines and newspapers all over the world.
He was given the award for his work in the Land, Sea, Sky and Journeys & Adventures categories.
In the first portfolio, his images captured Ethiopia's Danakil Depression using a drone-mounted camera, giving a unique perspective on the dramatic landscape, while the second portfolio provided an insight into the working lives of Ghanaian fisherman on Lake Bosumtwi.
Other stand-out images included a selection by 18-year-old Courtney Moore from the USA, who was awarded the title of Young Photographer Of The Year in the age 15-18 bracket for her images of foxes shot on a sub-zero windy morning in Island Beach State Park in New Jersey.
Meanwhile, the award for the Mankind section of People & Cultures Portfolio was given to Ruiyuan Chen from Shanghai, for his monochrome portrait of the ethnic Yi people who live in poverty in the Daliang Mountains of Sichuan, China.
The UK’s own Luke Massey, 25, was awarded a Wildlife & Nature gong for his pictures of a rare and endangered Iberian lynx, camouflaged in its native environment in the Sierra de Andujar National Park in Andalucia, Spain.
The winning images from each of the categories will go on show at Travel Photographer of the Year exhibitions at the UK City of Culture celebrations in Hull from May 18 to June 30 and at the University of Greenwich in London from August 4 to September 3.
