The survey of more than 7,500 Which? members rated the airlines for a number of attributes, including seat comfort, food and drink, punctuality and value for money.

Short-haul winner Turkish Airlines was awarded five star ratings for food and drink as well as seat comfort, achieving a customer score of 80 per cent, with second place Aurigny Air Services getting 76 per cent and third place SAS Scandinavian Airlines claiming 75 per cent.

Ryanair finished third bottom in the table overall with a score of 50 per cent, with only Iberia and Vueling Airlines achieving lower customer scores of 49 per cent and 41 per cent respectively.

Vueling were the only airline not to achieve a single three star rating in any category.

The results of Which?’s latest short-haul flight survey also showed a decline in both customer score and star ratings across several categories for British Airways.

BA has a value for money rating of just two stars in this year’s survey but last year it received three stars, and it was given just two out of five stars for food and drink compared to last year’s four stars.

Ryanair and Easyjet score even worse for food and drink in the short-haul survey, as both received scathing one star reviews from passengers.

The airline was given full marks across a range of categories, including food and drink, in-flight entertainment and the cabin environment, with an overall customer score of 91 per cent.

The top three long-haul airlines list was completed by Emirates and KLM, with all scoring at least three stars in every category.
