Here’s how you can get yourself out of a bad mood with a bit of help from science
Changing the way you feel only takes a few moments

JANUARY without doubt is the most miserable month of the year.
It's the time that people are particularly skint, leave their jobs and get divorces. So how can you pull yourself out of a bad mood?
Researchers from the University of Exeter have found that there IS a way to pull yourself out of feeling blue.
The trick is to focus on the details of an argument and imagine how it could have gone different, which according to the boffins, can help people "snap out" of the bad feels that follow an argument.
The scientists held a six week trial using patients who were suffering from clinical depression and were asked to look out for warning signs of stress, and then review those tough situations.
This patients who "relived" the stressful experiences and thought about how it could have gone differently - felt better about the upsetting event.
Professor Ed Watkins, University of Exeter said: "We have found in the lab that when people train themselves to think about the specific sensory details, context and sequence of an emotional event, including how it unfolded, they were more emotionally resilient to an unexpected stressor than those who thought about the meaning and implications of emotional events."
