Not only will our chosen trio of budding entrepreneurs be flown to Facebook’s European HQ in Dublin to take part in a small business workshop – to learn how to maximise their potential on social media – they’ll also receive three months’ mentoring from the company and £250 worth of advertising on the site.

Explaining why the social media giant has teamed up with us to launch this life-changing competition, Facebook’s vice president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa Nicola Mendelsohn says: “Our research found that one in ten women in the UK were walking around with a business plan in their head, but lacked the confidence to pursue it.

“We estimated that if a fifth of those women went ahead with their venture, it would mean 400,000 new jobs and a £10billion boost to the economy by 2020.”

The was launched in May last year and features helpful webinars on topics such as how to set up an Instagram account and targeting customers, giving women the tools to launch their own career.

“For me, it’s all about passion. I’m after someone who has a big idea and is excited to get to work on it. When it comes to pitching your plan, my advice is to keep it simple – know your product and customer and simply let it speak for itself.”
