The Simpsons accurately predicted Lady Gaga’s Super Bowl half time performance five years ago
THEY correctly predicted Donald Trump’s rise to power, the death of Harambe the Gorilla and the horse meat scandal.
Now it seems The Simpsons foresaw Lady Gaga’s outrageously flamboyant Super Bowl performance - five years before it happened.
The 30-year-old pop icon began her dazzling half-time show perched on top of the NRG Stadium roof in Houston, Texas, showing off her stunning figure in a short silver jewelled leotard and fishnet tights.
Adding a dramatic mask, Gaga then dived on to the pitch and wowed the excited crowd with a 12-minute medley of her smash hits including Poker Face and Born This Way.
But some eagle-eyed fans spotted that the high-octane performance looked eerily similar to her skit on The Simpsons.
In the 2012 episode, Lisa Goes Gaga, the singer flies through the air via a tethered harness and plays the piano while wearing a theatrical get-up – just as she did in real-life.
Another episode of the US cartoon features a constellation of lights illuminating overhead during a football game – in much the same way drone were employed during Gaga’s performance.
Observant fans took to Twitter to discuss the spooky similarities.
A user called ‘Queen Gaga’ wrote: “Woah, woah, woah. The Simpsons predicted @ladygaga performing at the #SuperBowl?”
While Charlie Cox commented: “Well. The Simpsons got it right again. #SuperBowl #Gaga.”
Despite two costume changes Gaga avoided any wardrobe mishaps, and has been widely praised for the show-stopping performance.
About 110 million TV viewers watched her set, during a break in the New England Patriots’ 34-28 win against the Atlanta Falcons.
While many fans expected the Gaga to use the platform to make a political statement, the Perfect Illusions hit maker focused more on her music.
“The only statements that I’ll be making during the half-time show are the ones that I’ve been consistently making throughout my career,” she previously said.

However she did perform her hit Born This Way, including the lyrics: “No matter gay, straight or bi/Lesbian, transgendered life/I’m on the right track baby/I was born to survive.”
Surprising many, she also performed Woodie Guthrie’s This Land is Your Land, which some viewers have claimed could have been a subtle dig at new President Donald Trump.
“One Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all,” she said, in an apparent jibe.
Mid-way through the medley of hits, Gaga sat down at a piano and performed Million Reasons.
“America, how you doing tonight? We’re here to make you feel good. Do you want to feel good?” she asked the crowd.
And proving she’ll never forget where she came from, the star also gave a shout out to her beloved mum and dad at home.
She closed out the show with an explosive rendition of Bad Romance.
The Simpsons shockingly predicted Donald Trump would be America’s president in an episode aired in 2000, where Lisa refers to “inheriting quite a budget crunch from President Trump”.
The animation has also featured storylines about Prince’s death, Greece’s financial collapse and FIFA corruption.
