People are less interested in visiting the US since Trump’s inauguration
Visits have dropped by 2.2 per cent since the travel ban and flight searches went down by 17 per cent
Donald Trump’s travel ban might not have got through the courts, but experts say it is already hitting the travel industry in the wallet.
According to reports, visits to the US have dropped by 2.2 per cent since the ban was implemented.
The Global Business Travel Association told that the US travel industry has lost around $185 million (£148 million) in revenue as a result.
In fact, experts claim that there has been less interest in American holidays as a whole since Trump’s inauguration.
The flight intelligence site Hopper have analysed the data from billions of flight searches over that period.
They found that flight search demand from international origins to the US has dropped 17 per cent overall since the January event.
The big exception to this downwards turn is among Russians – in Russia, flight search demand to the US is up 88 per cent.
While international demand is down for all major US destinations, the big east coast destinations like New York and Boston have suffered the least, while San Francisco and Las Vegas have seen the largest declines in interest.
