Kim Kardashian’s make-up artist Mario Dedivanovic reveals the biggest beauty blunders you’re making… and what you SHOULD be doing instead
From banishing dark circles to faking glowing skin, the celebrity make-up artist who brought contouring to the masses reveals the insider secrets that will transform your beauty routine
KIM Kardashian has long been hailed as the "queen of contouring", but as we all know - every queen needs her king.
And in this case that's make-up artist Mario Dedivanovic.
He's the man behind Kimmy's flawless Insta-ready face and pretty much solely responsible for bringing contouring into the mainstream. Yep, we all owe him BIG TIME.
We caught up with the man himself at the new NIP + FAB cosmetics launch to find out the biggest beauty blunders we're all guilty of and what we really should be doing with our make-up...
Don't go straight for the mascara "Something simple like curling the lashes can transform a face. A lot of women will just put their mascara on, but giving the lashes a really big curl makes a huge difference, brightening and opening up the eyes."
Use different shades to contour different areas "You should use the darkest shade to contour the cheek bones, second darkest on the hair line and the lightest shade on the nose. I like to use a natural greyish undertone on the nose as it gives a super natural, slight shadow, rather than a deep one."

Invest in a powder puff "Powder applied with a powder puff instead of a brush lasts longer and means you can really work it into areas you just can't with a brush, like the creases around your nose. Also, on some people's skin the bristles of a brush mess up the make-up."
Don't skip concealer "A lot of women overlook concealer. It really makes a difference if you take a little time to really get those areas of darkness or veiny areas with concealer rather than foundation. For people with spots, take the time and patience to cover the specific areas and the effect is so much better than a thick foundation."
Get blending "Not blending well enough is one of the biggest contouring mistakes I see. Using a soft brush that doesn't pick up too much product is best to help you get that right."
Fake glowing skin "Apply highlighter on your forehead above the eyebrows to make the skin look like it's really glowing from within."
Make the most of your make-up "When you use a wet brush to apply the lightest shade in your contour kit, you get an even paler shade. This works really well along the lower lash line."
Don't get tangoed "On paler skin tones, contouring can look orange. A more grey shade is really good for that to keep it looking natural."
Banish dark circles "Take the blush up into the edge of dark circles (the top of your cheekbones) and it really helps to counteract the darkness."
Know your nose "If you have a bump in your nose, make sure to skip it when highlighting the nose because it will accentuate it. It's popular on Instagram at the moment to highlight the tip of your nose but if you have a long nose or a nose that points down, that is the worst thing you can do."
Reduce eye creases "Don't use anything dry. Go with a lightweight liquid formula and don’t put too much powder into the lines. There is no magic solution though, so just keep on top of it throughout the day."
Avoid flashback "Refrain from putting anything with shimmer near the laugh lines, too close to the nose or anywhere you don’t want flashback (eg. centre forehead)."
Get that Insta-ready look "Contouring the jaw makes a big difference in photos (but can look weird in real life!). Apply it right under the jaw and build it up so there's a slight shadow, working it up into the face. Bring the leftovers down the neck area - this avoids having a line but also elongates the neck."
Don't go OTT "It’s just as important to know when not to contour as it is to contour - so know when to hold back. Not everyone needs it, and certainly not everyday. Also just because something is a trend doesn’t mean that it works for you, so pay attention to your features and make sure the make-up isn’t making you look worse."
NIP + FAB's new range will be available in Superdrug stores at the end of March.
