After years of guzzling the sweets, hundreds of Haribo customers have finally noticed that there’s something they never realised about them.

The Starmix gummy bears come in five different colours – green, clear, yellow, red and orange.

While many of the flavours correspond with the colour of the sweet, this isn’t the case for the green ones.

Despite its colour, the Starmix green bear is actually STRAWBERRY flavour.

And contrary to popular belief, the red-tinted treat tastes like raspberry.

After finally learning the truth after years of not-knowing, countless customers have taken to social media to announce that they’ve been “living a lie”.

One said: “Wtf all my life I thought the red Haribo gummy bear was strawberry… but the green one is strawberry… my life has been a lie.”

Another added: “Today I learned that the green haribo gummy bear is actually strawberry-flavoured & my reality feels completely unhinged.”

A Haribo spokesperson revealed that the Starmix green bear is strawberry flavoured, but this isn't the case for all products.

Packs of Goldbears and Juicy Goldbears contain green sweets that taste like apple.

The official spokesperson told The Sun: “We can confirm that green Goldbears found in HARIBO Goldbears and HARIBO Juicy Goldbears are in fact apple flavour.

"However, the green bear that features in Starmix is strawberry flavoured!”

This isn’t the only confectionery revelation to surprise customers in recent months.

A man came up with a bizarre conspiracy theory that Haribo’s fried eggs are actually UFOs.

And it turns out that we’ve been eating Tic Tacs wrong all this time.
