Ear tattoos are the latest body ink trend… but here’s why you have to be extra careful with them
TH-INKING of getting a tattoo? Permanent ear art is the latest trend to sweep the web.
Tiny tats are back in fashion, and the appeal for most women is easy to understand.
Tattoos frowned upon in your line of work? Simply sweep your hair over the tiny design, and it's completely hidden from view.
But intricate ear tattoos aren't for the faint hearted... so what exactly are the risks, and is it worth it?
For many people, the area around the ear is one of the most sensitive parts of the body - just think how ticklish it is - making these tatts an extremely painful experience.
Unlike many other body parts, tattooing your ear can actually cause temporary jaw lock, headaches, migraines and dizzy spells.
It's also worth noting that you shouldn't get any shampoo or other products on the tattoo while it's still healing - for the first couple of weeks after getting it done.
Despite this, hundreds of people are choosing to get ear tattoos - with some claiming the pain is not too bad, although the noise in their ears is very, very loud.
Some people choose to get their inner ears tattooed, others the area behind ear - i.e. directly on the skull.
