Pet owners are left horrified and their dog is ‘in shock’ after this crazily extreme cut at local grooming salon (and they only asked for a trim)
But the salon in Manchester claim the pooch's mane was so matted they had no choice
A COUPLE who took their dogs to be groomed were "horrified" to find out one been shaved head to toe instead of having a routine trim.
Louise Thompson - who owns Saymoyed dogs Dash and Neytiri - told the Manchester Evening News: "When I went back to collect my dogs at lunchtime I couldn’t believe my eyes, I almost didn’t recognise Dash. I was and lost for words.
"I collected my dogs put them in the car and cried feeling like I had let him down by allowing someone to do this to him.”
Lousie said she'd received a voicemail from Happy Dog Groomers in Rawtenstall to say that five-year-old Dash's fur was so matted that the dog would have to be "shaved short".

Louise, 37, who lives in nearby Bacup, has been taking her dogs to the local grooming shop for three years and said she was expecting lovable Dash to just have a few patches of short fur.
She said that while she understands that her dog can be hard to brush as he's a "big softy and cries," she thinks she should have been consulted on the implications before the parlour shaved him.
Samoyeds have a special double layered coat and Lousie added that Dash's coat may now never grow back properly and the couple now have to slather him in sun lotion to protect him.
Beautician Louise added that her dog now seemed "in shock" at his new look and now seems "timid."
She said: "It’s upsetting to see him like that, he’s lost a lot of confidence and he’s half the size he was before."
She was offered a refund for the service but she says this doesn't cover the new costs of a coat and the special sun cream needed to protect him.
But the owner of the dog parlour, Richard Coop, insisted owners are always made aware if their dog is going to be shaved and would only do so if it's the kindest thing for the dog.
He said: "The owners are always made aware the dog is going to be shaved short. In this instance when I was brushing Dash’s knots out he was whimpering on the table and it was hurting him. The matted fur was pulling on his skin."
He confirmed he'd left Louise a voicemail warning that her dog would look very different and she'd said: "OK chuck."
He said: "I do know a Samoyed shouldn’t get shaved off but in extreme circumstances, when they are extremely matted, you’re not left with much choice."
