TOPSHOP are selling a very unusual pair of “jeans” on their website – and they’re not even made of denim.
The questionable fashion item has been causing a stir online, and now vlogger has tested whether they’re actually wearable.
The US YouTuber challenged herself to wear Topshop’s £55 clear trousers for an entire week.
Over the seven day stint, she tried out a number of different looks to see if she could make the “ugliest trousers in the world” look fashionable.
After opening her Topshop package, Safiya was immediately baffled by the ‘jeans’, remarking: “I’m going to be honest I’m completely speechless”.
As soon as the vlogger put the clear trousers on, the sound of the plastic in motion was an immediate problem.
Safiya joked: “The sound of me walking down this hallway right now is obscene”.
On the upside, when she spilt some drink on her outfit, she was able to wipe the mess straight off with ease.
During the week, the YouTuber tried out a variety of different looks.
On the first day, she paired some black denim shorts with the clear jeans over the top.
Next, Saf strutted her stuff in fishnets and shorts, while on the third day she played it safe by placing some black leggings underneath for a more casual look.
She said: “I do feel like wearing pants under these pants is a pretty good call.”
When Safiya tried out camouflaged trousers, the reaction to her outfit wasn’t so positive.
As she walked down the street, a passer-by stopped and stared, remarking: “Oh my god! What?!”
Unlike other pairs of jeans, the vlogger showed that the plastic clear material of the Topshop pair worked well by the swimming pool.
Even though Safiya laughed that she “looked like a jellyfish”, the summery outfit wasn’t ruined by the unusual trousers.
For the final outfit, the YouTuber tried her best to make the look seem “as wearable as possible” with a “space-themed aesthetic”.
She got plenty of compliments on the get-up, where she paired the quirky trousers with a sheer black top.
Since Saf uploaded the amusing clip earlier today, it’s already racked up more than 61,000 views.
Even after the fun experiment, fans were still confused about whether or not they could accept the love-hate fashion item.
One commenter remarked: “These pants are actually really cool if you style them right but they're also really ugly and I'm so conflicted??”
Another said: “Safiya just makes all of the ugly clothes work.”
