Furious mum blasts friend who compares having kids to looking after a dog… so who do YOU agree with?
The mum was tired of hearing her pal compare waking up for her pooch to looking after a newborn
FORGET the debate about dog or cat people, there's a new issue which is causing rows.
It seems the latest battle lines are being drawn between people who view their pets as children... and those who find that infuriating.
, where one forum user was furious about her friend's attitude.
She asked: "Am I being unreasonable to be mega irritated by people who compare having a dog to having a child/baby??
"I have one friend in particular who constantly goes on about how 'no one understands how much I love him, to me, he is my child' yeah its nice to love a pet of course it is... but the love you feel for a pet is dwarfed by the love you have for a child."
The pal apparently gets "mega offended" if anyone says this to her.
Causing particular annoyance to the forum fan was her friend's likening of being woken up by her pooch first thing in the morning.
She said it was like looking after a newborn, prompting her friend to write: "No it is f***ing not you freak."

She scored a line through the comment though, letting her fellow Mumsnetters know she thought it but didn't say it out loud.
Obviously expecting others to firmly agree with her, the woman might have been surprised when things weren't quite so cut and dried.
One person commented: "What a horrible post, great example of competitive feelings.
"She may well love the dog more than anything else so her feelings are perfectly valid.
"Just because you feel differently about dogs it doesn't make her wrong."
Another added: "Well she hasn't got children. Her pet is like her child. I have to say I care a lot more about my pets than someone else's child."
This was the gist of a lot of the responses, with many pointing out that it's impossible to know what having kids is like until you actually do it.
A lot also said pets do become part of the family, so while the love people have for them might not be identical to the way they feels about their children it's still a big deal.
Then, of course, there were the comedy replies, such as one joker who said: "Thankfully I never had to take my rabbit to rabbit toddler group."
Earlier this week Mumsnet users shared their "lazy confessions", such as one who ironed her shirts with hair straighteners.
One mum also sparked debate after slamming her hubby, who makes £55,000 a year, for asking her to return to work.
