MOST people have panicked under pressure, but one contestant on The Chase has been slammed for giving a wrong answer on tonight’s show.

Viewers took to Twitter to share their disbelief over the answer given for the colour of the Statue of Liberty.

Host Bradley Walsh asked contestant Shauna to pick from pale shades of pink, brown or green.

Instead of choosing green, Shauna quickly chose pink from the options, justifying her answer by saying it was her favourite colour and she had never seen the landmark up close.

Chaser 'The Governess' was quick to raise eyebrows and to point out Shauna’s error, saying: “Well it’s copper, and when copper goes old it gets green.”

Shocked viewers vented on Twitter about the answer, and questioned how she could get it wrong.

One said: “How in the name of god could you think the Statue of Liberty was pink #TheChase.”

Another said: “No way has a woman on #thechase just said the Statue of Liberty is pink.”

Thankfully for Shauna, she still managed to make the final chase with another contestant.

But victory was not on the cards, with Chaser Anne Hegerty answering every question right in the final round and beating their 17-point score.

The quiz champion managed to win with 41 seconds to spare.

This week, Chaser Paul Sinha stunned fans by revealing he’s gay during an episode of the popular ITV quiz show.

It’s not the first time the show has got fans in a flap, with viewers recently swooning over the ‘fittest ever’ contestant.

Quiz fanatics were also frustrated by another contestant who had an unusual idea of where a mantelpiece should go.

Catch The Chase weekdays from 5pm on ITV.
