Honest mummy blogger Tova Leigh shares the reality behind her ‘perfect’ selfie – including granny pants and her ‘unsexy’ mum-tum
AN HONEST mummy blogger has shared the reality behind her “perfect” selfie - including granny pants and her “unsexy” mum-tum.
Tova Leigh, a half Israeli, half Irish blogger who lives in the UK, shared a powerful message about body image after posting a “perfect” selfie on Instagram.
“How I actually looked when it was taken, without 20 attempts to get it right, without cropping out the bits I don’t like and without adding the ‘make me look pretty’ filter.”
Tova went on to express that she had since read an article about the way social media can make people feel insecure, because of the “perfect” images that they then perceive as reality.
The impassioned mum added: “Well let me tell you something: THIS IS REAL.
“In all my mum-tum, cellulitis, granny pants and absolutely zero thigh gap glory!
“Not the perfect sexy body by some dictated standard, but imperfectly fabulous because it is real and it is mine.”
She concluded: “Social media is full of s***. You are beautiful just the way you are.
“And there is nothing sexier than being real.”
The powerful post has received over 41,000 likes and 7,500 shares since it was posted, with mums from all over the world applauding Tova for her honesty.
One woman commented: “You are such a f****** inspiration Tova!!!
“Blessed be you magical warrior! This momma thanks you from the bottom of my heart.
“You always tell it like it is, and the world needs more blunt honest truth baring women in this world!”
Another wrote: “Halle f****** louja! Finally someone out there that say's it as it is.
“Tova you rock, and I for one like the fact I have no gap in between my thighs, means I am one step closer to being a mermaid.”
It's not the first time Tova has caused a stir online.
She previously got a massive response to her vlog about why she was done with praising her children "for talents they don't have".
Last week, we reported how women of all shapes and sizes are proudly showing off their "visible tummy lines" in a body positive social media trend and the Loose Women Body Stories campaign.
