Poundland launches Toblerone lookalike… and their £1 chocolate bar is bigger and cheaper than the Swiss treat
Called Twin Peaks, the new Poundland bar will cost - you guessed it - just £1
POUNDLAND is launching a triangular treat to compete with the Toblerone - and it's even bigger than the Swiss chocolate bar BEFORE it was slimmed down.
Called Twin Peaks, the new Poundland bar will cost just £1, and your quid will get you not one, but two, rows of chocolate in a familiar triangular shape.
Made in Birmingham, the pound-shop's mouth-watering new bar weighs 180 grams, which puts the Toblerone's 150g weight to shame.
Before the size of the bar was reduced by profit-hungry manufacturer Mendolez International, Toblerone's smaller products used to weigh 170g.
That means that the new £1 offering stacks up well in comparison, outweighing even the original bars before the size was reduced.
Whilst the iconic Toblerone's design is inspired by the Matterhorn, in the Swiss Alps, Poundland have looked a little closer to home for the Twin Peaks' inspiration.
Instead of a mountain, the dual ridges are inspired by a hill in Shropshire, and were designed to differentiate the own-brand product from the triangular competition.

"We weren’t consulted about the reduction in size, and what’s worse, some customers blamed us for it."
But the popular chain is now hitting back, offering customers a lot more bang for their buck with the new product.
