Furious size 22 blogger blasts TV company who asked her to lose weight on a new show… insisting she’s happy being ‘fat’

A FURIOUS size 22 fashion blogger has blasted a TV production company who asked her if she would like to appear on a new programme to lose weight by telling them to "f**k the furthest off".

Lottie L'Amour claims firm TwoFour emailed her explaining they were making a show about staying healthy without breaking the bank and were looking for volunteers who were willing to try a new diet to shed pounds.

However plus size Lottie claims she has never expressed wishes to diet or lose weight online as she believes unless a medical professional advises it, diets are a "fad and a phase" and says she is happy being fat.

Enraged at email, the 29-year-old informed the production company, who have produced shows such as This Time Next Year and The Real Marigold Hotel, that she was 'frankly disgusted' by their proposition.

Lottie, from London, said: "I'm a big campaigner for body positivity. I'm all about fashion and feeling good in your body whatever size you are.

"I got this email and it's quite clear that they've just gone to see whole online community of plus size people and thought 'they must want to lose weight'. It's poor researching.

"It was also addressed to 'Gloria' and I actually know her – she's a size 30/32 and is hugely popular as a plus size blogger on YouTube. She never talks about dieting.

"If the person took the time to read my blog they would know it's completely not what it is about.

"I have spoken to at least 10 other people who received that email too in the plus size community.

"We are all about being happy in your own skin."

Lottie claims the production company eventually replied via email apologising for any offence caused and explaining that they 'understand not everyone wants to lose weight'.

Along with other members of the plus size blogging community, she is seeking to reclaim the word 'fat' from trolls, who have bombarded her online with hate mail.

Lottie, who has been blogging about body positivity for more than two years, said: "It's really important for plus size women to fight against people telling them they are not worthy.

"It happens all the time and I'm doing a lot of work to reclaim the word 'fat'.

"People use it negatively yet everybody has fat and it is just a descriptive word.

"Especially being visible and fat and on the internet – I get a lot of people telling me I'm going to die or I'm riddled with disease.

"I do go to the gym and I'm very active. I just happen to also be fat.

"The show is with the woman of The Hotel Inspector, I think, and it's all about trying diets that don't break the bank.

"I know that the diet industry is huge and I know that there will be people who are looking for that kind of thing, but personally, my view is that diet culture is a way to make people feel terrible about how they are.

In the original email Lottie received, the researcher explained that TwoFour was the production company behind TV show, The Jump, along with This Time Next Year, presented by Davina McCall and The Real Marigold Hotel.

For the show they are currently producing, Save Money: Good Health, the company claimed to be looking for people who 'would like to lose weight'.

Lottie reply in full was: "So first of all, my name is Lottie, not Gloria – excellent attention to detail.

"Second of all, clearly you haven't read my blog – I don't want to go on a faddy show about diet culture. I believe that women can feel good in whatever skin they are in and that diet culture is a money making scheme that hinges on making people feel terrible about who they are.

"It's frankly disgusting that you've obviously gone looking for plus-size bloggers thinking you will find fat women that would want to lose weight – not all fatties want to lose weight, we are not easy prey for diet culture. If you had read my blog, you would know this.

"I won't be sharing this with anyone. In fact, I'll be making sure the plus size community don't engage with you and your presumptive research tactics. Seriously, try harder. Please don't contact me again."

Twofour replied to her and said: "Hi Lottie, Hope you are well – I would like to apologise about the email that was sent to you from our casting team it was not intended to cause you any offence.

"One of the reasons we got in touch with you is because you have a voice and are not afraid of speaking your mind, this is something we look for and admire in contributors, especially in this series when we want people to take part in some health trials.

"We understand not everyone wants to lose weight but we are contacting people far and wide on the internet and vloggers are a huge influence in getting message out to their followers. Please accept our apologies again."
