Remember pop star Robyn? A new conspiracy theory about her will change how you hear her songs forever

Surprisingly, the song lyrics do seem to support the argument

SWEDISH singer Robyn is a global megastar who has had hits in the UK charts since the 90s.

As fans have been re-discovering her music recently, they've come up with an interesting theory about two of her popular tracks.

According to the theory, which was first suggested by Sam Natale, the songs Dancing On My Own and Call Your Girlfriend are both linked.

The former was released in 2010 and reached the UK No.8 spot, but Call Your Girlfriend failed to chart a year later.

Many believe that the lyrics to the two hits are about the same night, but each tell the story from a different perspective.

Dancing On My Own appears to tell the tale of a girl who was dumped seeing her boyfriend locking lips with another girl on the dancefloor.

The lyrics read: "I'm in the corner, watching you kiss her, ohh

"I'm right over here, why can't you see me, ohh

"I'm giving it my all, but I'm not the girl you're taking home, ooo

"I keep dancing on my own x2."

Theorists believe Call Your Girlfriend shows the version of events from the second woman's perspective.

The lyrics read: "Call your girlfriend / It's time you had the talk

"Give your reasons / Say it's not her fault

"But you just met somebody new."

The song words do seem to back-up Sam's clever theory, which has rapidly swept the social media.

Since tweeted it on Sunday, his post has attracted more than 6,000 likes and been shared 2,000 times.

People are blown away by the theory, with one Twitter user admitting: "I just gasped."

Another agreed: "Oooh. This is good, this is very good."

This isn't the first unusual music theory to go viral in recent months.

There’s a bizarre claim that The Killers’ iconic Hot Fuss album is all about MURDER... and the lyrics really are spooky.

And some people believe this ridiculous theory that country hit Cotton Eye Joe is really a song about STDs .
