Hopeless romantic proposes to his girlfriend near a waterfall… but it spectacularly backfires

SOME grooms-to-be spend weeks planning the perfect marriage proposal.

But when one blundering boyfriend decided to pop the question at a picturesque waterfall setting, it seemingly ended in disaster.

Andrew Schuhmann asked his girlfriend of six years to be his wife in front of the stunning Havasupai Falls in the Grand Canyon.

As the nervous romantic got down on one knee, Kammie immediately gasped in surprise.

Andrew’s friend was roped in to film the adorable moment.

The groom-to-be told : “Caught up with the beauty of the area, I hastily created the whole plan, getting greedy and wanting a waterfall in the shot.

“I would tell her that I wanted a picture of us jumping off the smaller falls, he would take the picture/video.

“I would keep the ring on my pinky finger, my hand in a fist the whole time to ensure it would not slip off, and to keep it hidden.”

But the cute scene was quickly ruined when Andrew DROPPED the ring.

This forced him to propose without the sparkler.

The groom-to-be recalled: “So we waded out and prepared to jump, but when the moment came, I guess I got nervous, and as I dropped to my knee and brought up my hand with the ring to ask the question, the ring was gone!

“In my panic, I told her ‘I just dropped the ring!’

“Not knowing what else to do, I asked in a rushed, desperate manner, ‘Uh, will you marry me?’

Thankfully, she said ‘Yes.'”

Not everyone believes that the bride and groom could have been that unlucky and doubt has been cast on their story.

Despite this, Andrew is insistent that the ordeal was so traumatic that he cried after making the blunder.

Apparently, they spent the next three hours searching in the water for the ring.

Andrew said: “I had to leave after getting out of the water to go cry behind a rock.

“We took turns consoling each other in the days after, and decided to tell our parents and friends, which made it real.”

Thankfully, the pair were able to put the disastrous proposal behind them.

They have now been married for four years and can look back at the chaotic day and laugh.

Andrew and Kammie even whipped out the awkward clip at their wedding.

The groom said: “It still is one of those lost and terribly embarrassing moments. But it is a great story.”
