This is why your hair can turn green when you’re on holiday… and how to prevent it

SUNSHINE, sea and swimming pools are what holidays are all about – but they can play havoc with your hair.

For some, especially those with blonde hair, that means your locks take on a strange green tinge on your summer break.

So why does your hair go green and what can you do about it?

According to the Body Fixers hair guru Daniel Granger, the pool is the culprit.

He told The Sun Online: “Green tinge is particularly evident in blonde hair as there is less pigment to mask it.

“Most think this is down to chlorine which to some extent is true but it is mainly down to high levels of copper compounds sitting in pool water.

“In high enough levels and on porous hair types this can even affect brunettes.”

But if you’re about to jet off to sunnier climes, and want to stop your crowning glory going green, Daniel has some sound advice.

He said: “To prevent your hair going green wet your hair prior to jumping into the pool and create a barrier to the compounds by using a leave in spray conditioner.

“Washing your hair thoroughly after swimming can remove all traces of green. However the best tactic of all is keep your hair out of the water.”

Last week Daniel revealed his top tips for keeping your hair from going limp and lifeless on holiday.
