This is the one thing the royal family are banned from doing… even if you ask them nicely
IF YOU are lucky enough to meet a member of the royal family chances are you'll want a souvenir of the occasion.
But there's one thing no royal will do for you to remember them by - even if you ask them very nicely.
And that is that no member of the royal family will give you an autograph as royal protocol bans them from scribbling their signature for other people.
So the likes of the Queen, Duchess of Cambridge and Princes William and Harry have to politely tell people they won't sign their autograph books or even body parts.
It has been reported that when Prince Charles is asked for his signature he always responds: "Sorry, they don't allow me to do that."
It is believed the rule was put in place for royalty to lower the risk of anybody trying to learn to forge their hand-writing.
However, they are allowed to sign visitors books when on official engagements as well as official documents.
But one cheeky member of the royal family has been known to break this rule.
In 2010, Prince Charles scrawled his name and the year on a piece of paper for a victim of severe flooding in Cornwall.
He whipped out his Parker pen and wrote his name and even apologised to his shaky writing, saying he "never writes standing up."

But as it goes against royal tradition, he and other members of his family have never been pictured doing it again.
