BONES and gristle means that eating a bucket of chicken wings can be a tricky business.
But one KFC superfan has shown how we've been eating them all wrong, and how there is actually an easy trick to eating them without making any mess.
Matthew Taylor, from Clitheroe, Lancashire, developed his trick to de-bone a wing ultra-quick so that the chicken can be then scooped off in one large bite after years of eating KFC religiously.
And now the 35-year-old has even made a video tutorial on the correct way to eat one of the Colonel's wings.
The incredible footage shows Matthew hold a chicken wing, extract a bone from it in one swift movement and then insert the piece into his mouth, pulling out the meat-less bone a second later.
Matthew said: "I don't know where I picked up the skill – I just naturally eat chicken wings really fast.
"The person in KFC's new advert campaign claims to show you how to eat chicken wings, but I thought my way was better.
"I bet I sound like a big fat slob. I don't go every day or anything. My speed-eating of KFC is just a bit of fun.
"I don't really know where I learned the technique of breaking the bone off at the end – it just kind of evolved. It helps to get most of the chicken off the bone.
"I've actually been invited to two KFCs to run some eating tutorials."
Matthew even claims his wing-eating prowess is what made his girlfriend of 11 years, Lisa Pickles, agree to date him.
The seasoned speed-eater has a WhatsApp group with friends where they rate KFC restaurants around the world out of ten and Lisa claims he 'salutes the colonel' when they drive past.
He loves the fried chicken chain so much he plans to get a job in one of the restaurants because he's so passionate about seeing them succeed.
His chicken chomping stretches far beyond his speed eating as Matthew and his friends have a secret WhatsApp group in which they review KFC's from all over the world, including a rating out of 10 along with images and general comments on each restaurant.
He even claims he stole a KFC plate from Bangkok and had it engraved for his friends.
Matthew, who says he visits the fast food giant at least once a week, said: "On the way back from a night out, we always go home via KFC.
"Whenever I go there, I'm in a WhatsApp group with my friends where we review KFCs around the world, so I'll review each new place.
"The furthest KFC I've ever been to was in Thailand. In Bangkok, I actually stole a plate for my friends and got it engraved for them.
"I'm going to apply for a job in a KFC because I just want to make it a really good KFC. Currently, I'm an antique dealer with my girlfriend.
"To be honest, it was one of the first things I showed her when we got together and we've been together for 11 years now so it must have worked.
"She likes eating chicken too, but not as much as me."
Last week we revealed how lonely people are more likely to buy KFC because it has a FACE on the packaging.
