THE demand for sperm donors is outstripping supply with couples turning to online profiles and Facebook searches to find a baby daddy.
Highly-sought after donors are now revealing what it is like to give families hope, with one saying he knew he would never be able to tell anyone about his "donations".
Speaking in a new BBC Three documentary, the anonymous donor said: "Currently I have 59 donor babies, seven on the way, my wife doesn’t know anything about it.
"To find out your husband has not got six children anymore, he’s got way over 60, it would be disastrous really.
"It’s just a secret I have to take to the grave."
The documentary also followed George, who said he had started to donate his sperm to help couples.
He said: "Clinics do exist that claim to help these women but it comes at quite a high cost and I’ve heard it can run into thousands.
"I think they are taking advantage of a woman’s desire to be a mother and I think that is morally wrong."
In the documentary, George meets with same sex couple Chelsea, 25, and Sarah, 23 - only charging the couple £30 for travel costs and time.
But other couples have not been so lucky, with same-sex couple Jody and Charlene, both 18, finding a sperm donor on Facebook - but both attempts to fall pregnant failed.
The couple struggled to keep in contact with the donor, now having to start the search process all over again.
Others involved in donating sperm admitted it was a "perk" if the couple decided on natural insemination.
Another said he had donated sperm by meeting people in areas including hotels, railway stations, Costa Coffee and McDonalds.
