Wetherspoons is adding vegan fake meat burgers to the menu in all of its pubs

The burger, made by meat-free company The Meatless Farm, is made from soya protein and is topped with avocado, salsa and rocket.

Spoons already does a vegetarian burger but this will be the first-ever vegan patty the pub has sold.

Like other “gourmet” burger options, the vegan patty comes with a side of chips and onion rings.

Wetherspoon has confirmed the new burger isn’t knocking another item off the menu.

How often does Wetherspoon boss Tim Martin eat at his own pubs? And will there be a Brexit beer?

We’ve asked the pub chain for an exact launch date and price although he know customers will definitely start to see the vegan patty rolled out this week.

As Wetherspoon prices vary from pub to pub, the cost of the burger will differ depending on your location.

Typically, a burger and an alcoholic drink can cost around £8, while this goes down to roughly £6 for a soft drink.

Wetherspoon food development manager Oliver Addis said: “We were looking for a plant-based burger that could deliver on taste and texture and we found that in The Meatless Farm Co.

“We’re confident customers are going to enjoy this new offering within our pubs.”

The launch of The Meatless Farm burger comes a year after the company started selling their patties in .

They currently retail for £2.50 for two burgers and each one contains 203 calories per 100g.
