Lidl recalls pesto sauce over fears it could trigger allergic reactions
LIDL has recalled a batch of pesto sauce over fears it could trigger allergic reactions.
The budget supermarket is recalling the Baresa Pesto Alla Genovese sauce because it contains peanuts which isn't clear from the label.
This means shoppers who suffer from a nut allergy may accidentally eat them without knowing they could cause them harm.
Symptoms of an allergic reaction to peanuts include itching, sneezing, vomiting, diarrhoea or even an anaphalactic shock, which can be deadly.
The product recall applies to Baresa Green Pesto Alla Genovese 190g with batch codes IIF103, IIF183 and IIF186 and a best end date of June 2022.
No other Lidl products are known to be affected and the supermarket has apologised for the inconvenience caused to its customers.
If you have bought the pesto sauce and you have an allergy to penuts, you should avoid eating it and instead return it to your nearest Lidl store for a full refund.
You can find your nearest store using.
