Heinz has reassured shoppers that no one was hurt and that it is now carrying out an investigation.

As a precaution, the supermarket has pulled all eight flavours from shelves, including sweet and sour chicken, mango chicken curry, cottage pie, and cheesy and tomato pasta stars.

Sunday chicken dinner, winter veggies and lamb, pasta bake with tuna and spaghetti Bolognese have also been affected by the recall.

The "By Nature" jars weigh 200g and are suitable for babies aged seven-months or older.

It's not the first baby food to be pulled from shelves - earlier this year Cow&Gate recalled baby food sold at Asda, Tesco, and Boots because it contained bits of a rubber in it.

It was pulled from supermarket shelves after a mum found pieces of a blue rubber glove in the food she'd bought her 15-month-old baby.

Other recalls to look out for include Cuggl stair gates sold at Argos. These were pulled from shelves after a toddler became trapped in one and had to be rescued by firefighters.
