It comes less than a week after another outage left Yahoo customers without email services for hours.

BT reported the problems on its service page at 12:04pm and believed that it could take up to two hours to resolve.

But now the broadband provider says that the problems have now been fixed and that it is "sorry for any inconvenience caused" to customers.

Sky and Yahoo Mail didn't report the issues on their service pages.

More than 500 complaints about Yahoo Mail were recorded by Downdetector this morning, with 82 per cent reporting problems with logging in.

At its peak, more than 1,000 BT customers said they were having problems accessing emails, while only 100 Sky users had registered a complaint.

The complaints website also recorded around 300 Talk Talk customers struggling to get into their emails but the provider told The Sun that it wasn't related to the issues with Yahoo Mail.

Frustrated customers took to Twitter to report the issues, with many being unable to access emails via third party apps, such as those on their phones.

But others said they were also having trouble gaining access to the service via their desktop computers too.

Most customers were asked to change their passwords and still couldn't log in even after they followed the instructions.

One Twitter user wrote: "My win10 mail app wont sync and keeps asking me to update my password and going into my BT account and looking for mail there tells me it "Could Not Connect". Any idea will your problem be fixed?"

Another wrote: "First noticed on the email app on my phone (just saying log-in failed), so I tried to login via webmail on chrome on my phone and got a failed to connect to server type message. "

Tim H said that his email still wasn't working on any of his devices even after changing his password.

A similar issue left BT customers locked out of their emails in July last year too.
