Iceland recalls Chinese takeaway ‘banquet’ ready meal over allergy fears
ICELAND shoppers are being urged to check if they've got the supermarket's 'Chinese Banquet' takeaway-style ready meal as it's been recalled over allergy fears.
The frozen food specialist says the spring rolls within its "Takeaway No 26 Chinese Banquet" box contain milk, which isn't mentioned on the label.
This means the spring rolls are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents - often known as being lactose intolerant.
Symptoms of an intolerance can include diarrhoea, stomach cramps and pains, and nausea.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) says anyone who has bought the meal and has an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, shouldn't eat it.
They should instead return it to the store where it was bought for a full refund.
Iceland's Chinese Banquet meal is a 1.2kg box filled with four chicken spring rolls, chicken chow mein, sweet and sour chicken, and egg fried rice.
It normally costs £5 and is sold both online and in stores, although it's currently been taken off-sale online.
The recall affects boxes with all date codes printed on them.
Contact your local store manager with any concerns - use to find your nearest.
Alternatively, call its customer services line on 0800 328 0800, and select option three.
More on recalls
Similar recalls have seen Iceland withdraw its "No Cheese" pizzas, pasties and macaroni because they may contain milk, as well as its vegan chocolate puddings.
Meanwhile, Muller yogurts sold in supermarkets including Aldi, Lidl and Tesco have been recalled as they may contain METAL.
And Tesco is recalling Cow & Gate baby food over fears the jars may have been tampered with.
