Britain’s Coupon Kid gives his top four tips on how to save money every day
COUPONS can really put the pennies back in your pocket – and the savings add up.
But, don’t just take my word for it. Jordon Cox, a.k.a. Britain’s Coupon Kid, told me his ways for saving pounds every day:
MAIL TRAIL: Reaching out to companies you love can lead to savings on items you would have bought anyway.
Jordon says: “Send them a really complimentary email and they may send you some coupons through the post. The more effort you put in the more money you might get off. I sent a 20-line poem to Innocent Smoothies, and they sent me £20 of coupons!”
ON THE FLY: Sometimes it’s cheaper to fly than get the train. When it comes to travelling and holidays, then research, coupons and cashback can get you the most bang for your buck.
Jordon says: “I try not to pay full price for travel, and I once found it was cheaper to fly home to Essex from Sheffield via Berlin, than to get the train. I spend the most money on holidays but always book using cashback websites, so it’s probably where I make the most savings.”
BIRTHDAY TREATS: It pays to let brands know your birthday.
Jordon says: “For birthday freebies, sign up to lots of loyalty schemes, like the Body Shop, which awards you £5 for free. Ikea and Paperchase also do this. I recommend setting up an email for your birthday freebies too.”
’APPY DAYS: If you want to get started with cashback, but think it will be a chore, sign up to apps that do it for you.
Jordon says: “My favourite savings app is AirTime Rewards. You add your cards to it, and when you shop at retailers it gives you automatic cashback. Then it comes off your phone bill at the end of the month. I also love the TopCashback app for this — it’s simple and every spend does soon add up.
