Co-op recalls hash browns due to fears they contain plastic

CO-OP is recalling bags of frozen hash browns because they may contain pieces of plastic.

Customers who’ve purchased the affected product are being asked to return it to their nearest store over fears it could be unsafe to eat.

In a recall notice on its website, Co-op said some bags may contain chunks of "white plastic".

The item that’s been pulled from shelves is the 700g bag of the supermarket's own frozen hash browns.

Only packs with a best before date of July 2021 are affected - all other dates are safe to eat.

If you've got a bag with the singled out best before date, do not eat it.

Shoppers are being advised to return it to their nearest Co-op store for a full refund.

Co-op said: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

The supermarket confirmed recall notices will be placed in stores.
