Is Screwfix open today? Coronavirus lockdown opening hours and advice

SCREWFIX shoppers won't be able to browse in stores but they can pick up essential click and collect items during the coronavirus epidemic.

Hardware stores have been deemed “essential shops” as they provide materials and equipment that help keep homes warm, safe and with power.

Other shops that are allowed to stay open during the new measures announced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson include supermarkets, pharmacies, newsagents, banks and Post Offices.

Vets, pet shops, petrol stations, off licences, launderettes, banks and hardware stores will also keep doors open for customers.

At the moment, Screwfix stores are open only for shoppers to pick up "essential" click and collect orders, meaning customers can't look around stores.

The retailer says it will have a designated outside area where customers can collect their items.

Screwfix has also said on social media that shops only remain open "where safe to do so".

It's recommending customers to call their local store to make sure they can collect before ordering.

  • Indoor and outdoor markets, excluding food markets
  • Youth centres, libraries and community centres

When are Screwfix shops open?

Most shops will open under reduced hours - from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, and 9am to 4pm on Sundays.

However, some stores have reduced their hours even further than this, while others have closed "until further notice".

See this for more information.

This list could change as the coronavirus situation develops, so check back regularly to make sure your shop is still open.

You should note that as Screwfix stores are open for "essential" click and collect orders only, you can't browse and shop in stores as usual, and you'll have to be collecting an order.

Screwfix couldn't tell us what it classes as "essential" items but says its website has been updated to show these products as available for click and collect.

If you've already made an order and it's not been deemed "essential" by Screwfix, the company is asking that you don't collect it from stores right now.

Screwfix says it'll be getting in contact with customers to discuss their options.

Refunds are also not being processed at the moment and the company says it will be flexible with returns during this period.

If exchanges of faulty goods are needed, these are being carried out but only for essential items and if stocks allow.

Can I still order from Screwfix online?

Yes, Screwfix is still accepting orders on its website - but the retailer warns orders could be delayed.

Ranges may also be limited during the coming weeks, the company said.

Currently, Screwfix is charging £5 for next-day delivery on orders under £50.

Anything above this amount qualifies for free delivery.

At the moment, Screwfix has removed the pre-10 o'clock and pre-12 o'clock delivery options from its website.

What about click and collect?

Screwfix customers can still click and collect from its website but again, this is labelled as for "essential" items only.

This means all non-essential products won't have the option to click and collect when ordering online - but you'll be able to get these delivered to your home.

If you need to visit a store to collect your item, the company is asking that you respect social distancing measures to stop the spread of coronavirus.

You should also only start heading to the store to collect your product once you've had a text message to say it's in stock.

We've also rounded up the opening times of B&Q, Wickes and Homebase stores.
