It means customers have more opportunity to avoid crowds if they’re browsing for essentials during the spread of coronavirus.

From tomorrow, Morrisons stores across the UK will be open from 7am until 8pm, Monday to Saturday.

On Sundays, shops in England and Wales will trade from 9.30am until 4pm.

This is an increase of one hour on the 8am to 8pm weekday and Saturday hours currently in place, and half an hour later than the current 10am until 4pm Sunday hours.

Scottish Sunday hours will be 8am to 8pm.

Before the coronavirus crisis, Morrisons stores nationwide were open 7am until 10pm, Monday to Saturday.

The supermarket announced the change in opening hours on its Facebook page today.

It said the new hours were coming into force due to a drop in customers panic buying.

Morrisons said: "Thank you for continuing to shop considerately. From Tuesday 14th, we'll be open a bit earlier."

The supermarket confirmed its NHS hour will still be happening, but it'll take place one hour earlier than usual.

NHS shopping times will be 6am to 7am Monday to Saturday, and 9am to 9.30am on Sundays.

In Scotland, Sunday NHS times will be 7am to 8am.

Morrisons has just under 500 shops in the UK.

Morrisons item limits - is the supermarket still rationing products?

Morrisons confirmed last week that it's lifted buying restrictions on all items.

However, stores are still enforcing a one trolley per customer rule.

Shoppers may also have to queue to get into stores due to a one in, one out, system.

Previously, there were limits in place on some items at the supermarket after panic buying meant there was a shortage of products.

Customers were only able to buy three of the same items, but in the past week this was increased to four.

Morrisons has just unveiled a new partnership with Deliveroo where customers can get items delivered in 30 minutes.

as shoppers are being given "weird" alternatives in deliveries.

Meanwhile, Lidl is hiring 2,500 temporary workers and wages start from £9.30 an hour.
