Morrisons launches new delivery service for vulnerable and elderly
MORRISONS has launched a new telephone shopping service to help vulnerable and elderly people get the groceries they need.
Vulnerable customers can now phone up and order a delivery from a list of 47 essential items.

Morrisons says it has received many calls from customers who are self isolating, elderly, vulnerable and not able to visit a shop.
Some of these people are worried about how to get groceries in, and others have never used online shopping before.
These customers will be able to place orders with Morrisons over the phone and the delivery will be made the following day by an employee at their local store.
Shoppers can choose from a ‘takeaway’ menu of 47 essential groceries with options including milk, butter, eggs, potatoes, pasta, bananas, cornflakes and flour.
Morrisons was not able to share the full list, but said that other items included:
- Chicken breast fillets
- Diet coke
- Sugar
- Chopped tomatoes
- Toilet roll
- Ready meals (Cottage pie or lasagne)
- Broccoli
- Bread
Customers will need a bank card or mobile phone to pay for the delivery and can use either chip and pin or contactless.
If an item doesn't match the order or a customer isn't happy with it, they will be able to refuse it on delivery.
Customers who wish to place an order should phone 0345 611 6111 and select option five.
To help support this new service, Morrisons has invested in a van for every one of its 494 stores so that colleagues can drop the shopping off on a customer’s doorstep.

Morrisons Community Champions will also be identifying customers who need support and offering it on a postcard through their door.
The postcard will include a phone number so customers can ring their champions if they need shopping delivered.
David Potts, Morrisons chief executive said: "This new telephone service will ensure that more people who can’t leave their home to go shopping will be able to get a delivery.”
The Sun has asked Morrisons for the full list of the 47 groceries available through the service.
This is one of several measures that Morrisons has introduced in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. Vulnerable and elderly customers who do come into stores will be offered a helping hand from staff wearing ‘love to help’ t-shirts.
The supermarket has also expanded its home delivery service for elderly and vulnerable people.

It is also rolling out rolling out food boxes and has partnered up with Deliveroo to allow customers to order from a range of essentials delivered to their door on the same day.
