Hundreds of Aldi shoppers QUEUE to get on its website as home delivery boxes sell out

ALDI shoppers were queuing to get on the supermarket’s website this morning as the grocer launched its new home delivery food boxes, which have now sold out.

Customers faced virtual queues with hundreds of fellow shoppers ahead of them when they tried to access Aldi online.

When The Sun tried to get online this morning, there were 668 shoppers in front of us.

A message on the Aldi website read: "We're very sorry, but there are currently lots of people trying to access the Aldi website.

"We've automatically placed you in a queue. Don't worry about refreshing - this page will update automatically as soon as you can enter the site."

The wait times were short, however, with most shoppers having to wait less than a minute.

Aldi has now sold out of its new online-only food parcels

It comes after Aldi announced it would be selling food and essential boxes for home delivery, with the parcels going on sale today, April 17.

They were sold out by around 10.20am this morning.

The boxes, which are designed to help vulnerable and elderly shoppers who can't leave their home, cost £24.99 and contain 22 items.

Other supermarkets have also launched their own food boxes.

Morrisons' version costs £35 and contains 20 items, while M&S' boxes are also £35 and are filled with 20 products.

Aldi shoppers will want to know that the supermarket has recently extended its opening times.

The change in opening hours comes shortly after Aldi said it would stop selling some of its famous Specialbuys in the middle aisle of stores.
