Poundland launches chilled and frozen food range in 27 more stores – see the full list
POUNDLAND has announced 27 more stores where it will roll out its chilled and frozen food range - with 19 new locations coming this month.
The retailer first started testing selling frozen food including pizza, chips and ready meals in seven stores at the end of last year.
In March, it announced plans to roll out the concept to 60 more shops, and today announced the latest locations to be added to the list.
Of these, 19 will open during August at a rate of around five stores a week.
Another eight, which have not yet been named, will follow in September.
Poundland says it plans to extend the scheme to more stores later in the year.
The company adds that popular items in the range so far have included products from brands such as Ginsters, Cathedral City, Lurpak, Sutherland sandwiches and Rustlers cheeseburgers.
Customers have also been snapping up frozen products including Bernard Matthews chicken breasts and Birds Eye cod fillets, plus brands such as Aunt Bessie’s, McCain, and Young’s.

Poundland has developed the range in partnership with Fultons Foods, a frozen food retailer with 90 stores across the North of England.
Poundland retail director Austin Cooke said: “We know that shoppers have got a real appetite for our chilled and frozen food offer which is why we are cracking on and converting up to five stores a week.”
The stores where the new ranges are being introduced will also get a makeover as part of transformation plans known as Project Diamond.
The transformation also includes the opening of additional so-called “shop-in-shops” for fashion brand Pep&Co, meaning certain Poundlands will now sell its products.
