Record demand for inflatable pools, deck chairs and parasols causes national shortage

THERE is a national shortage of inflatable pools, deck chairs and parasols as families look to replicate the seaside in their gardens.

There has been record demand for garden furniture and hot tubs.

Top of the shopping lists at Tesco have been inflatable paddling pools, with demand up 450 per cent on last year.

Argos, the UK’s biggest paddling pool seller, had almost no stock.

It also sold out of parasols and almost all deck chairs and loungers.

John Lewis was out of stock for 21 of 22 paddling pools online and had no parasols either.

Homebase and B&Q also had no pools.

Simon Hutchinson, of Tesco, said: “We are seeing record demand.”
