Marks and Spencer is giving FREE Percy Pigs to Sparks card members
MARKS and Spencer is giving away FREE Percy Pig sweets to members of its Sparks loyalty scheme.
The supermarket has revamped its Sparks club so that customers get instant rewards, instead of collecting points.
M&S confirmed to The Sun that its smaller instant wins include Percy Pigs, with some customers having already claimed their free sweets.
Writing on the website, some M&S shoppers say they found the offer to redeem a free bag of Percy Pig sweets when they logged into their Sparks account.
However, it doesn’t appear that the freebie is available to everyone.
One customer said both himself and his wife were able to get a free bag of Percy Pigs, while other HotUKDeals users said the offer wasn’t available for them.
Supermarket loyalty schemes - which has one?
MOST UK supermarkets have loyalty schemes so customers can build up points and save money while they shop.
Here we round up what saving programmes you'll find at the big brands.
- Iceland: Unlike other stores, you don't collect points with the Iceland Bonus Card. Instead, you load it up with money and Iceland will give you £1 for every £20 you save. Cash isn't protected though.
- Morrisons: Morrisons' More gives customers five points per £1 spent in store. When customers earn 5,000 points they receive a £5 voucher.
- Sainsbury's: While Sainsbury's doesn't have a personal scheme, it does own the Nectar card which can also be used in Argos, eBay and other shops. You need 200 Nectar points to save up £1 to spend on your card. You need to spend at least £1 to get one Nectar point.
- Tesco: Tesco Clubcard has over 17million members in the UK alone. You use it each time you shop and build up points that can be turned into vouchers - 150 points gets you a £1.50 voucher. Here you need to spend £1 in Tesco to get one point.
- Waitrose: myWaitrose also doesn't allow you to collect points but instead you'll get access to free hot drinks, and discounts off certain brands in store.
If you’re eligible for the free sweets, you’ll find them under the “new offers” tab when you log into your Sparks account.
We’ve asked M&S if the free Percy Pigs are account specific, and if both new and existing members can get them, and we’ll update this article when we know more.
The Sun is also checking if the offer can only be redeemed once, as some HotUKDeal members say they redeemed the Percy Pigs three weeks in a row.
As well as smaller instant wins, M&S says it’ll be giving away bigger prizes through its Sparks club.
For example, each week one person will get their shopping free from M&S.
The supermarket also says deals will be tailored based on what you buy in store - so you may find money off vouchers for your popular items.
When The Sun checked this morning, we didn't see a reward for free Percy Pigs - but we could redeem a voucher for 10 per cent off food and flowers.
M&S Sparks is free to sign up to, either via the or through the or .
You’ll need to register with your name and email address before you can start redeeming rewards.
Then once you're signed in, you can register your physical Sparks card - this means your rewards should be tailored to what you buy.
Sparks was first launched in 2015, with shoppers able to "unlock" rewards, such as early-access to sales and new food launches, by building up points.
Unlike other supermarket loyalty schemes, you couldn't use your points to get cashback or vouchers.
But under the new system, you won't physically build up points - instead, you'll see free offers and discounts in your account.
Again, M&S hasn't released details of how often these rewards become available.
