Inspired by gestures of goodwill seen during the coronavirus pandemic, the advert sees different acts of kindness being played out.
Instead of telling just one story, this year’s ad features nine different scenes with each being made from a different art form, including live action, CGI and animation.
The scenes are tied together by a heart emblem which is passed from scene to scene as good deeds are carried out.
In another move away from previous years, the 2020 release is the first to feature an original artist instead of a cover.
British soul singer Celeste is the voice behind this year’s advert with her original song A Little Love.
John Lewis has also released an additional 30 second advert on the side which encourages people to donate to this year’s partner charities partners FareShare and Home-Start.
