Tesco customers furious as it ‘sells out’ of festive food for delivery and click and collect
SUPERMARKET giant Tesco has angered customers after selling out of popular festive foods online.
Shoppers who have slots reserved are unable to add Christmas dinner staples, such as smoked salmon, ready-to-cook vegetables and prawn cocktail starters.
The UK’s biggest grocer festive food range is available for collection or delivery between December 20 and Christmas eve.
But a warning on its website says many items are now out of stock.
One customer said on Twitter: “@Tesco lots of festive food unavailable to order for 23rd from Bar Hill store...why? Quite disappointing :-( “.
Another added: “@Tesco I was lucky enough to get a delivery slot for Christmas but I have just been online to do my Christmas order and other than a few turkeys there isn’t a single item on the festive foods that is available??? Will more be coming in or is that it?”.
The supermarket has also been telling customers on social media that many items are out of stock - and that they won’t be getting any more.
All Tesco festive food to orders must be completed by 11.45pm tonight.
A Tesco spokesperson said: “We have seen high demand for our Festive Food to Order range this year and we’re sorry that a few of the lines are unavailable online as we come to the end of the ordering window.
"A large number of products will launch in selected Superstores and Extra stores over the next week for customers to pick up fresh for Christmas.”
It comes after thousands of customers missed out on Christmas delivery slots and other queued for hours to secure them.
