For dessert, the dinner is rounded off with a slice of Christmas pudding, served with brandy sauce or custard.

For vegetarians, Toby Carvery is offering spinach, smoked cheddar and mushroom pithivier along with festive veggies and roast potatoes.

The takeaway dinner is less than half the price you’d pay for Toby Carvery’s dine-in three-course Christmas feast, which starts from £57.99.

However, you do get a starter for this price, whereas the takeaway option only comes with a main and dessert. There isn't an option for two-courses if dining in on Christmas Day.

Elsewhere, you can get a dine-in three-course Christmas Day meal from sister chain Harvester starting from £52.99.

Or at Brewers Fayre, you can get three courses from £46.99 when eating in.

The takeaway dinner from Toby Carvery could also work out pricey if you’ve got multiple people to buy for.

For example, it would come to £100 for a family of four.

The takeaway Christmas dinner is available in Toby Carvery restaurants in Tier 1 and Tier 2 areas in England, as well as all open branches in Wales and Scotland.

Sadly, it’s not available in Tier 3 areas - despite restaurants being allowed to remain open for takeaway.

You also can’t get your grub delivered to you, meaning you’ll need to pick it up from your nearest restaurant.

Customers are being advised to place an order in person or over the phone with their local Toby Carvery - there's currently no option to order online.

The meals are also pre-set, so you can't pick what you want like you would if you were visiting a carvery - but you can let Toby Carvery know if you've got any dietary requirements or special requests.

Orders can be made now up until December 23, where they’ll then be ready for collecting on December 25.

Customers will be able to choose what time they want to collect their food, so there's no chance of it going cold.

The takeaway Christmas dinner will also be available for pre-order at sister restaurant chain Stonehouse Pizza and Carvery, where it’ll be priced at £19.99 just for the main.

There’s an option to add dessert for £4.99.

Here, the vegetarian option is a brie and cranberry wellington with either nut roast or mushroom.

Both Toby Carvery and Stonehouse Pizza and Carvery are owned by Mitchells and Butlers.

Sarah Gamble, head of brand marketing for Toby Carvery and Stonehouse Pizza and Carvery, said: “It’s been a tough year right around the UK - so this is a way to give families one less thing to worry about on Christmas Day.

“By ordering their festive meal with us they can ensure their traditional dinner is plated up with the minimum of stress and without the need for washing up.”

Toby Carvery and Harvester customers could get 50% off main meals last week, but this deal has sadly expired.
