Greggs is bringing out a vegan sausage, bean and cheeze melt next week
GREGGS has announced that a new vegan melt will be joining its menu.
The new pastry - called the Vegan Sausage Bean and CheeZe Melt - will land on shelves in from next Thursday (August 5).
The melt, which is designed to mirror the bakery chain's Sausage, Bean and Cheese Melt, will be available at all 2,000 of Greggs branches across the UK.
Instead of the classic filling, the puff pastry is filled with vegan sausage pieces, mozzarella flavour vegan cheese and baked beans.
The melt, which contains 427 calories, costs at least £1.60 but may be more expensive depending on the store to store.
Customers can also order it via click and collect through the website or app after the chain introduced the service during the pandemic last year.
Greggs also offers home deliveries with Just Eat but note that it may cost you extra to have items like the melt dropped off at your doorstep.
The new pastry comes as the bakeries third vegan bake launch after the success of Greggs previous plant-based alternatives.
In 2019, it launched its popular Vegan Sausage Roll that has since become a customer favourite.
Last year, Greggs fans queued around the corner after the Vegan Steak Bake was introduced.
Hannah Squirrell, customer director at Greggs, said: “The latest addition to our menu gives customers another vegan friendly alternative to one of our most iconic menu items.
"As we expand our vegan options with the launch of our new Vegan Sausage, Bean and CheeZe Melt, we mark another milestone as we continue with our journey to become our customers’ favourite destination for food-on-the-go.”

It comes after Greggs was one of the chains which had to close stores due to the pingdemic.
Earlier this year, an ex-Greggs employee revealed how to bag free food if you're not impressed with what's on offer.
