Supermarkets issue urgent product recalls

SUPERMARKETS have issued urgent recall warnings on a range of popular products. 

Recalls are issued when there are concerns about the safety of a product. In the past, everything from ready meals and sandwiches to earbuds and kids’ books have been pulled from shop shelves.

Here is a round-up of some of the most recent product recalls you need to know about.

If you have bought any of these products you should avoid eating them. This is particularly important if you have any allergies or intolerances.

Instead, return the products to your nearest shop for a full refund.  You don’t need the receipt to get your money back. 

The website lists all the potentially dangerous items that have been recalled.

You can check this regularly to keep track on any products where there are safety concerns. 

Tesco Jack’s 50% Reduced Fat Salad Cream and Tesco 50% Less Fat Salad Cream 

Tesco is recalling some of its salad cream because it contains milk, which is not mentioned on the label. 

This affects all batches of the 450ml products with a best before date of June 2022. 

The product could pose a health risk to any customer with a milk allergy or intolerance to any milk constituents. It is also a problem for anyone followin a vegan diet. 

A Tesco spokesman said: “We are very sorry for any convenience caused.”

Sainsbury’s SFC Original Bargain Box 700g 

SFC Wholesale has recalled its bargain box as it contains milk, which is not mentioned on the label. 

The product is only available in Sainsbury’s stores.

All 700g packs with a best before date up to and including September 30, 2022 are affected. 

Again, the undeclared presence of milk could be a risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents. 

A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “We are asking all customers who have an intolerance to dairy not to consume it and to return it to their nearest Sainsbury’s store where they will receive a full refund. 

"No other products have been affected by this issue.”

Lidl My Street Food Patatas Bravas with Aioli Dip

Another product containing milk, which is not declared on the label. Lidl is recalling its My Street Food Patatas Bravas with Aioli Dip. 

All 560g packs of the product are affected as they contain "sweet whey powder", a product derived from milk. The presence of milk poses a health risk to anyone with a milk allergy or intolerance. 

A Lidl spokesperson said: "We have taken immediate action and removed the affected product from sale.

"No other My Street Food products sold in Lidl GB stores are affected by this recall and we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Lidl said any customers with queries or concerns should contact its customer services on 0370 444 1234.

Morrisons Mr Porky Pork Scratchings

Tayto Group is recalling a number of its pork scratching products because they might be contaminated with salmonella.

This affects Mr Porky, Jay’s, and The Real Pork Crackling Company products.

Mr Porky Original Scratchings in 40g and 65g individual packs and 6x16.5g and 5x16.5g multipacks are being recalled. This affects all packs with a best before date up to and including February 19, 2022. 

Mr Porky Crispy Strips 35g bags, Mr Porky Crackles 70g bags, and Mr Porky Prime Cut Scratchings 35g packs are also affected.

Jay’s Pork Scratchings 60g bags and The Real Pork Crackling Company Pork Crunch 30g and 70g packs are also being recalled.

This also applies to products with best before dates up to and including February 19, 2022. 

The possible presence of Salmonella is a health risk to any consumer. Symptoms of Salmonella can include fever, diarrhoea, and abdominal cramps.
