Amazing clifftop home on the market for £2.5m – and it has an extraordinary secret round the back

A CLIFFTOP mansion has landed on the market for £2.5million, thanks to an extraordinary secret at the back.

The seaside property sits in an area of outstanding natural beauty, mostly owned by the National Trust, but its true treasure lies hidden.

The hamlet of Rosevine is a sought-after location surrounded by rolling countryside and sandy beaches.

Yet its future owners will also be able to enjoy the short distance to nearby villages and 20-minute drive to Truro.

But this dreamy location isn’t the only reason for this house’s seven figure price tag and it isn’t the home’s design either.

The real gem of this clifftop house lies hidden in the garden - a flight of stairs leads down to a secret beach.

A quiet stretch of sand, Porthbean beach, is a haven to locals and pretty unknown to tourists.

With no car park, it is only accessed on foot, so this property's private path to it is a jewel.

All the grounds have stunning panoramic sea views of Gerrans Bay, Nare Head and all the way along to Portscatho.

The staircase to the Porthbean beach can feel like stepping into heaven.

The current owners, who bought the property in the 90s as a second home, are selling because they do not visit enough.

Now it could be yours for £2.5million, but beware - the property is expected to go almost immediately for the full asking price.

In fact, the four bedroom property, which was built in the 1930s, is likely to be demolished as one of the last undeveloped homes in the area.

The home may have spectacular views out to sea, but inside, its 2,301 sq ft of living space needs complete refurbishment.

David Hoskings, from estate agents Lillicrap Chilcott, said: "This property is in Rosevine, on an extremely sought-after stretch of coast. Even by residents of the Roseland Peninsula it's known as one of the most desirable spots.

"It's a very quiet area and not much comes up for sale there, especially on the seaward side.

"And what makes this even more rare is you have just under two acres and steps down to a beach.

"The house is in the best position in its plot and you have an area of woodland with a path meandering through to the steps down to the beach, Porthbean.

"It's a lovely beach, there's no car park and you have to walk along the coast path to get to it.

"Someone could go in and redevelop or do a complete refurb. With the scarcity of such sites it wouldn't surprise me if someone knocked down what's there and built their forever home."
