Seven ways to cut the cost of a wedding gift and still make the happy couple feel special
DAVID BECKHAM got a buzz from lavishing son Brooklyn with a £380,000 classic Jag as a wedding present.
But for the rest of us, buying a pricey marriage gift can leave you vowing “never again”.
Wedding lists can be scarily expensive — so here are some ways to cut the cost of a present while still making the happy couple feel special.
MAKE IT PERSONAL: If you have photos of the bride and groom, get them framed.
Funny pictures can be turned into coasters or his-and-hers honeymoon T-shirts, while cute pics are ideal for a collage.
CHECK OUT THE OUTLET: Search online for retailers’ outlet stores, which are full of bargains.

Include snacks, chocolates, fizz and snaps from their time together, along with a Netflix voucher to watch a romantic film.
SHOP THE SALES: Pick up a gorgeous gift for a fraction of the price in the sale areas of smart online shops, such as a funky leopard-print doormat, down from £20 to £10 at Cox & Cox.
GET BEST PRICE: Compare prices on sites such as Pricerunner and Kelkoo.
Look for deals or discount codes and sign up to a firm’s mailing list if it offers a discount.
Haggling on live chat could also cut the price.
GATHER A GROUP: If you need to stick to the couple’s wedding list, clubbing together with friends will enable you to wrap an impressive gift without having to pay a fortune for it yourself.
