A PROPERTY on an “upmarket” estate is on sale for just £3,000, but there is a significant catch.

What a buyer is actually paying for is not a home to live in but an alleyway which runs between two sets of houses in the town of Shirley, Solihull, West Midlands.

The piece of land is set to go under the hammer on May 26 with SDL Property Auctions.

It can be found between 22 to 24 and 26 to 28 Sandy Hill Road.

According to the advert, a key feature of the opportunity is that it is “freehold land" and "located within an upmarket residential estate".

The advert says: "The National Property Auction will be conducted behind closed doors.

“The auction will be live-streamed online with remote bidding only.

“Registration for bidding will close at 12pm the day before the auction."

It adds: "Please note, it is the land between the neighbouring houses that is being sold.

“Prospective buyers should refer to the uploaded photo of the title plan depicting the boundaries.

“Those viewing the land are asked not to cross into neighbouring gardens, as these are not secured by fencing panels in some places."

The auction will begin at 10 am and is listed as unconditional with a fixed fee.

The listing continues: "If you are the highest bidder, you must exchange legally binding contracts for the sale when the auction for the property comes to an end.

“You must then pay the applicable fees and deposit.

”You must complete the sale within 15 business days unless the Special Conditions of Sale contained within the Legal Pack state otherwise."
