Poundland AXES its website and announces major change for shoppers

POUNDLAND is AXING its website - but that doesn't mean it's the end of online shopping for fans.

The budget store is waving goodbye to its domain on in just over a week's time.

The move means a huge shake-up for customers, as they won't be able to order online directly from the budget retailer.

Shoppers have to buy items from the store's website before its virtual shutters come down.

It's because the value retailer will move thousands of products onto instead.

Poundland bought the similar online discount retail business back in March, with plans to transfer over its own products like its Pep&Co range, for more customers to enjoy.

isn't going anywhere any time soon though, so fans will still be able to browse bargain buys and check out what's available in-store from the comfort of home.

Poundland had set up a seperate online portal (its shop.poundland.co.uk site) in a trial last June, that would allow thousands of shoppers to order right to their doors.

The pilot meant selected postcodes in Birmingham and
Walsall, as well as across the Midlands and into South Yorkshire, could order Poundland products for home delivery.

Those services will be scrapped though, when the site closes down for good later in the month.

Poundshop.com is available nationwide in contrast.

And that's why bosses are keen to move Poundland's products onto the online site.

Barry Williams, Poundland managing director, said: “It’s great to warmly welcome the Poundshop.com team to Poundland.

"This acquisition puts power and pace behind our aspirations
to make our amazing products and value available to customers across the UK and Ireland, however they choose to shop.”

The site already has standard delivery available on orders more than £10 as well as a next-day delivery option for customers willing to fork out a little more, too.

And you'll still be able to pick up all the same great Poundland products, like its "iconic" Twin Peaks chocolate bar, or lines from its #6 Beauty range.

Its exclusive Land of Nod sleep products are also available on the Pounshop website as well as a new range from cleaning queen Kim Woodburn.

Plus there’s also 30 of Poundland’s Jubilee party items available for the upcoming holiday.

Poundland had only recently opened its biggest UK store, with more clothing and fresh food options.

And last year it also trialled a new convenience store format with two smaller shops too.
