BANK holidays are a great time to get the family together for a BBQ, but don't be caught out by your local supermarket closing early.
Some shops and supermarkets reduce hours on public holidays to give staff some much-needed time off and due to trading laws.
That means your local shop may change its hours across many of its stores on the bank holiday on Monday, August 26.
Here's everything you need to know about when your favourite supermarket closes on the August bank holiday weekend.
Aldi
If you're looking for a bargain, then few supermarkets are cheaper than Aldi.

Aldi has confirmed standard opening hours across its branches will apply on Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25.
Stores in England and Wales will then open until 8pm on August 26 while Scottish branches will close at 10pm as normal.
As always, check the supermarket's website to know when your local store will be open.

Asda
Asda stores are open during the bank holiday weekend.
However, your local store's hours may differ depending on location.
On August 24, typical store hours will be in place, meaning larger shops generally open their doors between 6am and 10pm or 7am and 11pm on Saturdays.
And Sunday hours are usually 11am until 5pm, or 10am until 4pm.
On the bank holiday Monday, many stores operate at reduced hours and close at 10pm.
Meanwhile, Express stores open as usual, which is typically between 6am until 12am.
Shoppers are still advised to use the store locator tool on Asda's website to check their local shop's opening hours.
Lidl
Lidl has been a high-street favourite for years and its cheap prices allow shoppers to buy more for less.
The budget supermarket's branches open as normal on Saturday, August 24, and Sunday, August 25.
On August 26, stores in England and Wales and outside the M25 are open from 8am to 8pm.
Inside the M25, branches are open between 8am and 10pm.
Stores in Scotland are open as normal on August 26.

M&S
M&S has made a name for itself due to its high-end food and fashion-forward clothing.
The retailer's stores are open as usual on Saturday, August 24, Sunday, August 25, 2024.
That's because these are normal weekend days, so the typical Saturday and Sunday opening times apply.
On a Sunday there are limits on how long some stores can be open, depending on their size.
This is due to Sunday trading laws. Though in some shops you can browse for a period of time before tills open to make sales.
On Monday, August 26 the majority of stores will be open between 8am and 8pm.
However, a small number of stores will be open between 9am and 6pm.
Opening times at M&S stores vary so it's also always best to check your local store to avoid disappointment.
Morrisons
Morrisons stores will open from 6am to 10pm on Saturday, and the usual Sunday opening times of 10am to 4pm on the bank holiday weekend.
On the bank holiday, opening times will be reduced from 7am until 8pm in larger stores.
Smaller McColl's stores - which are now part of the Morrisons brand - are expected to stay open as usual on Monday.
Morrisons Daily are also likely to stay open as usual, but it's best to check the store locator for your nearest Morrisons bank holiday opening times.
Sainsbury's
Sainsbury's will be staying open to serve hungry customers over the bank holiday weekend.
Bank holiday weekends are big business for supermarkets, as shoppers flock to the shops to buy food for parties and BBQs.
Sainsbury's hasn't confirmed its bank holiday opening times, but it is thought to be opening as usual on Monday, August 26.

Tesco
Tesco is always popular on a bank holiday weekend as shoppers look to snap up clubcard deals, before their favourite items sell out.
The supermarket's branches operate normal trading hours on Saturday and Sunday.
Bear in mind, Express stores' opening hours tend to be different to larger Superstores though.
On August 26, the majority of large stores across England, Wales and Scotland open from 8am - 6pm.
Most large stores in Northern Ireland open as usual, alongside Express stores.

Waitrose
For 2024 the summer bank holiday falls on Monday, August 26.
Most Waitrose stores are open on this day, but they are reducing heir usual hours.
