Aldi shoppers fume over Jubilee opening hours as supermarket slammed for ‘sad’ announcement
ALDI has found itself in hot water after shoppers complained over its Jubilee bank holiday opening hours.
The budget supermarket chain was slammed for its “sad” announcement as it confirmed it would stay open throughout the four-day weekend bonanza.
Posting on social media, Aldi said that store opening times would remain the same for the duration of the public holiday.
It came despite moves from superstore rivals, such as Tesco and Sainsburys, to alter hours on Thursday and Friday to allow staff to celebrate the historic Jubilee event.
In a Facebook post, Aldi wrote: "We're open for the Jubilee celebration! Make sure you head down to get all your essentials for the weekend!
“Our normal opening hours will remain in place this Bank Holiday weekend."

The majority of shoppers quickly took issue with the announcement and blasted Aldi for not closing stores to give staff a break and the chance to celebrate the Jubilee.
One replied: "Sad for the staff. People should be able to manage for two days without needing a supermarket.
"I come from a town where the shops still close half days on Mondays and God forbid when I was a kid in the 80s and 90s.
"Supermarkets were closed on Sundays... horrifying right. Hope they're getting paid well and that it's voluntary working."

"Shame on you… hope it’s double time and a day in lieu.”
A third said: "Feel sorry for the staff, it's a once-in-a-lifetime event.
"Close the shops."
Another fumed: "I always shop at Aldi but this I don't agree with.
"Just one day is all that is needed so that these people could celebrate something they will never see again!"
