A TWO-BED maisonette in a sought-after London suburb has gone on the market for £600,000 - but there's a catch.

The stunning terraced property in Highgate Road, Kentish Town lies just moments from Hampstead Heath.

It boasts huge sash windows and high ceilings, as well as two full-size double bedrooms.

But while would-be buyers will likely be desperate to put an offer in, there's one big problem.

The house has been left in a poor state by a previous tenant, with plenty of junk to be cleared and repairs to be made before the new owner can move in.

In one room, a carpet has been torn up to expose dirty floorboards.

A clothes' dryer, Coca-Cola machine and cross-trainer are among the items that have been dumped in the room.

A large stain marks the ceiling above.

The grimy kitchen is the filthiest room in the flat.

Floors and countertops are covered with litter.

Black plastic bags full of rubbish have been abandoned to rot on the laminate, while food waste has been left on a chopping board.

Takeaway boxes are piled up beneath the cupboards.

In one of the bedrooms, a thin mattress has been laid on the floor.

The tenant appears to have been living out of bin bags and a battered suitcase, with no wardrobes or chest of drawers for clothes visible.

Agents from Olivers Town make no mention of the clutter and mess in rheir listing.

Instead, they say the "substantial" apartment in a "handsome" block covers a whopping 861 square feet.

"The accommodation is bright and airy and features a generously proportioned reception room, kitchen, two double bedrooms and bathroom," their ad reads.

"Highgate Road is located on the borders of Dartmouth Park, Gospel Oak and Kentish Town, running north to Highgate, which in turn runs alongside Hampstead Heath to the Parliament Hill entrance.

It's not the only home on the market with a grisly surprise in store.
